Money Advice Service
If you are working
Tax-Free Childcare: You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year). Tax-Free Childcare.
If you get Tax-Free Childcare, you’ll set up an online childcare account for your child. For every £8 you pay into this account, the Government will pay in £2 to pay your provider.
Universal Credit for Childcare: You may be able to claim back up to 85% of your childcare costs if you’re eligible for Universal Credit.

Childcare Offer for Wales: Up to 20 hours of funded Childcare for 48 weeks a year, in addition to the Early Years Education, for the three terms following the child’s third birthday. You must be working and earning the equivalent of 16 hours per week at minimum/living wage, but not exceeding £100,000 per adult, per year. For more information visit Childcare Offer for Wales.
If you are a Student
Childcare Grant: You can receive a Childcare Grant (CCG) towards the cost of your childcare if you have children in registered and approved childcare.
Parents’ Learning Allowance: Parents’ Learning Allowance (PLA) is extra help intended to cover some of the additional costs incurred by students who have children.
