Play Sufficiency Assessment
Section 11 of the Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010 places a duty on all Local Authorities across Wales to assess and secure sufficient play opportunities for their children in their area.
The Play Sufficiency duty comes as part of the Welsh Government’s anti poverty agenda which recognises that children can have a poverty of experience, opportunity and aspiration, and that this can affect all children from all backgrounds.
The first part of the duty which requires all Local Authorities to assess the sufficiency of play opportunities came into effect on 1st November 2012.
