Training Courses

The Family Information, Childcare and Play Team plan and co‐ordinate mandatory training courses required by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) which are open to all childcare and play providers within Carmarthenshire.

These courses are heavily subsidised by the Local Authority and are restricted to two members of staff from each setting attending each course.

COVID-19 UPDATE

We are pleased to announce we have face to face training courses available for First Aid for January 2022. Clybiau Plant Cymru who run the Safeguarding Child Protection training are hoping to resume some face to face training shortly, as soon as we have an update regarding training dates we will inform you.

Due to COVID-19 and in order to comply with government regulations the training courses will have new policies in place, therefore delegates will need to bring a face mask and antivirus gel, bring their own refreshments and lunch and adhere to social distancing rules.

Course Bookings

To book on to these mandatory courses please contact the Family Information, Childcare and Play Team on 01267 246555/ 554

(Monday – Friday between 9am-5pm) or e-mail childreninfo@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Course Cancellations

Participants who wish to cancel a booking must do so 48 hours prior to the date of the course via emails avrilrees@carmarthenshire.gov.uk  if however you feel unwell on the day of the course and have COVID-19 symptoms please do not attend.

MOST IMPORTANT – If you, or anyone you have been in contact with, feels unwell or has any COVID-19 symptoms within 5 days after attending a training session, please contact Avril Rees on 07971695426 immediately so we can take appropriate measures.

Our usual venues were repurposed due to COVID-19 therefore all courses will be held in Neuadd Y Gwendraeth, Drefach sorry for an inconvenience.

Participants who fail to attend a MANDATORY course will be fined £50 and will not be permitted to book on to future courses until this fee had been paid. These changes have been necessary due to a high number of unfilled courses and wasted places. We are keen to ensure that as many staff as possible can access the training they require before Certificates expire. This is becoming increasingly challenging with budget reductions.

Invoices will be issued once course is completed.

*Please note that due to rising costs for training we no longer provide buffet facilities, could you please ensure you bring your own food and drink; sorry if this causes any inconvenience.

The whole Carmarthenshire team are an asset to us childminders and I know from speaking to other childminders in the UK that they do not have such a fantastic team behind them. I could not recommend this enough for anyone who would like to become a childminder in Carmarthenshire.
