Young Carers are children or young people under 18 who look after someone in their family who has an illness, a disability, a mental health problem or a substance misuse problem. They may be taking on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that an adult would normally do.

Carmarthenshire Young Carers Service supports young people, aged up to 18, who are caring for a parent, or sometimes a sibling,  whentheir caring role affects their education, social life or emotional health

Carmarthenshire Young Carers Service provides  one-to-one support as well as group activities and advocacy. They can work with parents around good school attendance and support families to overcome any barriers which prevent school attendance.
