Meet the Team
I have been the coordinator of Tim Camau Bach since the team was formed in 2015. Prior to this I worked in a Respite Centre for 4 years and also in an Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties Unit for 12 years. I have a degree in Health and Social Care.
I have worked in this role for the last 11 years. Prior to this I worked at a Children’s Hospice as a Play Specialist and Outreach Play Practitioner. I have a long background in working with children with a disability in a variety of roles and have qualifications in Education, Therapeutic play, Sensory development and Sensory issues as well as Managing Challenging Behaviour. I also trained with the RNIB so have a broad range of skills that could benefit many children and their families.
Outside of work I love to spending time and playing with my three new Grandsons and walking and training our 3 Springer Spaniels.
I have worked for Tim Camau Bach since 2002. In 1997 I started working for the NHS on pilot project as a Play Worker in the Child’s Development Team. I have also worked as a 1:1 support worker for a child with a disability in an educational setting as well as working as an Assistant in the nursery. This is when I qualified for my NVQ 3 in Childcare Education. Over the years I have had numerous training in behaviour management; portage; sensory development and sensory issues; intensive interaction; language and play etc. I specialise as a worker for pre-schoolers.
I have worked in this role for the past 11 years. Previously I worked for 18 years as a class teacher and deputy head-teacher in mainstream primary schools in the Swansea area.
As a pre-school co-ordinator with Tim Camau Bach my main role is to visit children who have additional learning needs in pre-school settings to monitor their progress. I help the nursery staff to meet the needs of the individual children, offering support, advice, training and loaning equipment from our resource bank when needed. I liaise with parents to ensure that they are kept updated on the progress their child makes in nursery. I liaise with other professionals who work with these children- therapists, health visitors, the sensory impairment service, specialist nurses, educational psychologists, the Additional Learning Needs department and staff in our children’s prospective schools- to try to ensure that the child has a well co-ordinated and seamless service from when they start in nursery until they leave us to go to school.
Outside work I enjoy singing and am a member of a choir. I like walking and gardening and socialising with friends and family.
I have been with Tim Camau Bach for 10 years my previous roles were working in Glangwilli Hospital on the Cardiac ward and acute orthopaedic wards also Cilgerran Children’s ward.
I have two sons one of which has Autism who is 20 years old. In my spare time I also work in the residential child care home in Garreg Clwyd. Socializing with friends and watching my sons play rugby. Also walking our cocker spaniel dog.
