I have also worked as a 1:1 support worker for a child with a disability in an educational setting as well as working as an Assistant in the nursery.  This is when I qualified for my NVQ 3 in Childcare Education.  Over the years I have had numerous training in behaviour management; portage; sensory development and sensory issues; intensive interaction; language and play etc. I specialise as a worker for pre-schoolers.

Gwenyth Jones

I have worked in this role for the past 11 years. Previously I worked for 18 years as a class teacher and deputy head-teacher in mainstream primary schools in the Swansea area.

As a pre-school co-ordinator with Tim Camau Bach my main role is to visit children who have additional learning needs in pre-school settings to monitor their progress. I help the nursery staff to meet the needs of the individual children, offering support, advice, training and loaning equipment from our resource bank when needed. I liaise with parents to ensure that they are kept updated on the progress their child makes in nursery. I liaise with other professionals who work with these children- therapists, health visitors, the sensory impairment service, specialist nurses, educational psychologists, the Additional Learning Needs department and staff in our children’s prospective schools- to try to ensure that the child has a well co-ordinated and seamless service from when they start in nursery until they leave us to go to school.

Outside work I enjoy singing and am a member of a choir. I like walking and gardening and socialising with friends and family.

Clare Griffiths
